Once upon a time, it was the first puppet theatre in Serbia and Vojvodina, and today it is the famous Youth Theatre in the heart of Novi Sad. For more than eight decades of its existence, more than 300 plays have been staged, and more than 20,000 performances have been held and seen by around three million spectators.

The Youth Theatre was founded in 1932 as the Puppet Theatre, at the Sokolsko Društvo in Novi Sad. It originated from the Sokol section of puppeteers, which was formed in 1930, with the great support of the elders of Sokol, Dr Vladimir Belajčić and Dr Ignjat Pavlas.
