A brand new, festival concept of celebration New Year’s holidays 2New!, was crowned last night at the Freedom Square with fantastic performances of Novi Sad 2021 Symphony Orchestra, Boban Marković brass band and DJ Fanatic.
Despite freezing rain and bad weather conditions, citizens of Novi Sad were at 9 PM gathered at the central square enjoying Symphony Orchestra performance with more than 60 musicians.
Under the baton of Mikica Jevtić and with special guest Sergej Trifunović and vocal soloist Jelena Končar and Milena Popović Srdić, the orchestra presented the perfect blend of classical instruments and film and modern music. In one of the most beautiful buildings in Novi Sad, in the City Hall, the concert started with the music from the movie “Otpisani”.
Besides music from local films the Symphony Orchestra Novi Sad 2021 also performed in a symphonic arrangement the most famous evergreen and disco hits, so the Square resounded with hits from “Balkan Express”, “Grlom u jagode”, “Nacionalna klasa” “Maratonci trče počasni krug”, “Tito i ja”and many others.
The concert was broadcast on video-beams on with the most modern production. With the perfect lighting that was breathtaking, the visitors watched a concert being under impression that the Symphony Orchestra is right in front of them. In order to program be more attractive, the team Novi Sad 2021 managed to connect the symphony orchestra music and electronic music.
At the end of the evening, before midnight, the world-famous master of trumpet, Boban Markovic, with his brass orchestra performed. It was dynamic and organized performance to remember with more than 10 musicians, whose rhythm the audience could not resist, and at midnight a spectacular firework shone in the sky.
The festival concept of New Year celebration “2New!” brought together more than 42,000 people during the four holiday days of and presented on the central locations in Novi Sad great Symphony Orchestra musicians, world, regional and local music stars, as well as a special program for children.
