Újvidéki Színház, i.e., the Novi Sad Theatre, was founded in 1974 with the idea of preserving the cultural identity of Hungarians in Vojvodina. Jovan Subotić Street very quickly became a place where some great important theatre stories emerged. Over time, the Novi Sad Theatre became not only a place where the Hungarian elite gathered but also one of the most relevant theatre addresses in Serbia and the region.
