After winning the prestigious MIDEM award in Cannes, the best Serbian jazz band EYOT is coming to Doček 7531, at 13 January at 8 p.m. with the aim to combine the unlikely – the eclectic architecture of the most famous Novi Sad palace, Egység Cultural Station, with a music blend of rock and jazz, as well as punk and ambient music.

The Association of Jazz, Pop and Rock Musicians declared EYOT the best jazz band in Serbia in 2022. EYOT was founded in 2008 in Niš, and it consists of Dejan Ilijić on piano, Miloš Vojvodić on drums, Marko Stojiljković on bass and Slađan Milenović on guitar. Their music represents an eclectic sound between rock and jazz, punk and ambient music, impressionism and romanticism, firmly relying on the traditional music of the Balkans and Eastern Europe, creating a real mix of old and new, east and west.
They are the winners of the Umbria Jazz Balkanic Windows 2009 competition, as well as the MIDEM OFF Showcase 2012 competition (Cannes, France), the most important music fair in the world. This was followed by performances in more than twenty countries around the world: Austria, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, China, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, the UK, France, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Switzerland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Italy, UAE, Türkiye, and Serbia.
Their latest release in October 2020 was published by one of America’s leading independent labels, Ropeadope Records, with worldwide distribution. The album received stellar reviews, was among the top 10 best-selling jazz albums on Bandcamp and was included in several official Spotify playlists. The French national radio dedicated an article to it on its website.
EYOT are also active on the local scene, they performed twice at the Belgrade Jazz Festival (in 2013 as fresh talents, and in 2017 they had the honour of opening it), as well as at other festivals and in many concert halls throughout the country – Nišville, Valjevo Jazz Festival, Novi Sad Jazz Fest, Jazziré Subotica, Jazzibar Kraljevo, Green Town Sombor, Vršac Jazz Fest, etc.
They performed live on national radio stations in Serbia (RTV, Radio Belgrade 3), Bulgaria (BNR), Romania (Cluj) and Switzerland (RTS Geneva).
In 2019, their Concert for Nature, recorded live on top of Suva Planina, at an altitude of 1,515 meters, was broadcast on national television, channel RTS3. The unusual undertaking, which, in addition to EYOT’s music, also promotes the natural beauty of the Republic of Serbia, earned them a plaque appreciation from the Institute for Nature Conservation of Serbia, for its special contribution to nature conservation. National Geographic was the media sponsor.
The national platform ‘Serbia Creates’ recently included the EYOT team in its list of creative ambassadors.
