The Novi Sad synagogue in Jevrejska Street is one of four synagogues in our country, built in the early twentieth century in the Hungarian Art Nouveau style according to the project of Lipót Baumhorn, an architect from Pest. It was surrounded by buildings – on the left, the former Jewish elementary school, and on the other side, the building of the Jewish municipality, and all three buildings still form a harmonious architectural whole.

The Novi Sad synagogue is no longer active, and numerous musical programmes and performances are held in the magnificent building today, as the former prayer hall is extremely acoustic. The synagogue was built in 1909, and since 1991, it has been included in the spatial cultural-historical complex of great importance and has the second level of protection of the Republic of Serbia.

The African R’n’B princess, Nneka, who is compared to Alicia Keys and Erykah Badu, will perform on 13 January at 8 p.m. in the magical atmosphere of the Novi Sad Synagogue. We will find out what it looks like when the music and fashion icon from Nigeria paints the Synagogue with the power of the voice that placed her on the European charts for 50 artists on the rise. Video works by Novi Sad artist Dejan Stojkov will be projected on the walls of the Synagogue with a performance by Nneka.
