City Concert Hall

City Concert Hall

The construction of the City Concert Hall, the first in the history of Novi Sad, shows that the European Capital of Culture is changing the cultural life of the city, and that it is becoming part of its history. The specificity of this long-awaited space for concerts is that it is one of the few examples in Europe that combines two important institutions – Music and Ballet School.

The modern building of the City Concert Hall in Cara Lazara Boulevard has thus become the long-awaited home for the two schools with a rich tradition, which nurtured generations of young talents. The ‘Isidor Bajić’ Music School got its residence after more than a century, and the Ballet School after 70 years.

Stefan Milenković, one of the world’s most famous violin virtuosos, took the position of artistic director of the City Concert Hall, who on this occasion, after a long career abroad, returned to Serbia, i.e., to Novi Sad. Milenković expressed great enthusiasm about the new space for creative expression of young artists, because this will be a place where, in addition to quality education, they will be given the opportunity to meet and perform with big names in classical music.

The city concert hall covers 15,000 square meters. The largest hall has 480 seats, and there are two smaller ones, with 250 and 180 seats, which significantly expands the concert capacities in the city.

One of the greatest contemporary jazz pianists, Tigran Hamasyan from Armenia, is coming to the European Capital of Culture on 13 January to Doček 7531. The new and first in the history of Novi Sad, City Concert Hall will shine like never before at the performance of the prestigious European Echo Jazz Award winner at an event not to be missed.
