Using only their voice and body, without a single instrument, this Slovenian sensation will take you on a spectacular journey – around the world and through time. See you on December 31 in Podgrađe, on the main stage in front of the Belgrade Gate at 9 p.m.
Perpetuum Jazzile is known as one of the biggest and most spectacular vocal groups in the world. Recognised by critics, the vocal orchestra from Slovenia is known for its strong rhythms, rich harmonies, incomparable creativity, positive energy and variety of musical genres that the singers create with just their voices – pop, rock, jazz, gospel, blues, bossa nova, disco, funk, ethno and others. Their music also features human beatboxing – vocal percussion that incorporates an impressive array of drum sounds and rhythms created only with the mouth.
In addition, singers use their hands, feet, and other body parts to recreate and interpret all kinds of sounds, such as rain, storms, aeroplanes taking off, water fountains, waves, and other natural phenomena.
Perpetuum Jazzile’s rich concert setlist includes unique vocal arrangements of world-famous musical gems such as ABBA, Toto, Michael Jackson, The Queen, Daft Punk, David Guetta, Lady Gaga, Earth, Wind & Fire, Billy Joel, David Bowie, Joni Mitchell, George Benson, Bee Gees and other legends, as well as their own interpretations and covers of various folk songs. The vocal orchestra sings in different languages: English, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, German, Croatian, Macedonian, Slovenian and others. The Perpetuum Jazzile concerts provide the audience with a unique musical experience. Their creative vocal arrangements that impress many musicians around the world are accompanied by the strong energy, soulfulness, and passion of each individual singer.
Along with a majestic sound that you would not expect from human voices, Perpetuum Jazzile moves its listeners. Perpetuum Jazzile was founded by artistic director Marko Tiran in 1983. The choir performed intricate jazz vocal arrangements under the name Gaudeamus, later changing its name to Perpetuum Jazzile.
