The Museum of Contemporary Art of Vojvodina

The Museum of Contemporary Art of Vojvodina

The Museum of Contemporary Art of Vojvodina uses a museological-research approach to the preservation and exhibition of works of contemporary art from the second half of the 20th and 21st century, connecting the local art scene with the international one.

The museum collection contains collections of paintings, sculptures, objects and installations, graphics and drawings, conceptual art, film, video and photography from the aforementioned period in Vojvodina and Serbia, as well as some of the international artists and art groups. In addition to this, the museum collects, systematizes and preserves a rich library and documentary-archive material on all stakeholders and phenomena relevant to the history of Vojvodina art.

The Museum of Contemporary Art of Vojvodina is directed towards the systematic study and revaluation of the art history of the second half of the 20th and 21st century in Vojvodina, Serbia and the region, through many study, problem, retrospective and monograph projects. The projects, through new approaches and work methods, affirm significant historical artistic phenomena and personalities, with simultaneous continuous work on educating the audience.

In addition to establishing contacts and cooperation with many institutions from Serbia, the region of the former Yugoslavia and the wider international space, the museum’s task is to point out insufficiently affirmed approaches, marginal or alternative trends from the artistic past, while at the same time encouraging contemporary production and practice by engaging its stakeholders through thematic and independent exhibitions, actions, speaking programmes, workshops, film screenings, music events and the like, intended for professionals and the general public.

One of the most successful Serbian producers and DJs has just returned from a tour in India and is coming to Doček on 13 January: we are listening to Space Motion & Tribe at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Vojvodina, which will host fans of techno and house music following the global trend of combining such spaces and electronic music. The visionary producer and DJ who is one step closer to world domination every day, will perform with his guest DJs from the country and the region, including the popular Italian DJ Undercatt.
